Easy Stroll and reflecting on family

Today was a hot day in Mississauga.

I took a long nap and went for a late evening stroll.

Just as I was waking up from my nap this afternoon.  The Chinese radio station was playing a Christian program.  My dad in a sarcastic remark said, 'oh believe in Christ and you will be saved.'

I am the only Christian in my family.  In regards where my parents and sister stand, they are very far from Christ.  They are ok with me going to church, prayer meeting and fellowship.  They do not want to hear the gospel.  On one hand it is hard on the other I can do nothing but pray as the heart can only transform via the Holy Spirit...

Did what my father said ticked me off?

To be honest, sometimes it does.

So I was thinking about this and riding...and I thought about what I considered church as....church is a brothers and sisters in Christ...like a family.  And I would never ask my dad to go or kick him out because his views differ than mine.  Nor would I leave my home because of that.

Paul, time and time again, stress to do good, to all people (Christians and non-Christians)

[ala , Romans 12:18, Galatians 6:10, 2nd Thesslonians 3:13 etc.]

Then I thought about those who have differing views in my church...

argh...

It is the same thing.  If I don't do it to my non-believing family, why would I treat differently than my spiritual family.

So I thought about it some more.  I gotta do more good.  Not less.  It ain't about who's right or wrong.  It is about being good in presence of all...

Titus 3:1-2
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men.

Lastly, and probably the best verse I can find in the Bible about doing good to non-believing family members; 1 Peter 3:1-2:

Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives.

This is just as easily applicable to non-believing family members.  Especially when I am the son and I should obey my parents.

A good ride and good reminder indeed.

Jack Darling Park....

Wild lilies...once I noticed them,  I can never stop seeing them everywhere I ride...[added: ok these ain't that wild considering they are in someone's front yard ;D]

Many critters dwell in my city.

Here's one of them...

We also have Bambi's cousin roaming around...

More wild lilies...

Saw a big fat glowing orange on the way home...

Oh I will pray for you and your family. I completely understand on the peter verse oh too well... often times that verse gives me so much hope in my family as well. It's still hard at times. I have been lately saying in my head " Give thanks in ALL circumstances".... and also "giving each thought captive to Christ". Those verses help and help alot throughout my day.

Great pictures also! I love orange!
