Boundless blog had a post on success can be a hindrance to marriage. Though the article is focus on successful females, I wonder to myself whether I have the courage to give up success and focus on marriage/relationship.
Would I be willing to not work over time to spend more time with love ones at the expanse of a promotion? Will I be able to forgo fancy toys, complacent lifestyle or extravagant living?
There is a struggle between my own pride and a mix of cultural/peer/social expectation.
I can feel my pride working against me. I can feel it right underneath my skin. Especially when a promotion in the workplace. I am reminded that my focus is on things that unseen, things that are eternal.
How often do someone cheer when they get a promotion? Or a vacation?
Yet, how often do someone cheer when they say they choose to spend more quality time with their kids?
In the Chinese culture, being successful is almost a pre-requisite to have a successful marriage. Or so it seems. Or so expected.
I enjoy reading Boundless.org because they focus on the family. They equip singles to be in a Christ centered relationship. A value today seems to be less importance (in society and sometimes even in church!).

I think you probably know this then that Boundless is published by Focus on the Family :)
But, you've touched on a point. I'm often conflicted - if and when I do have children, what will I do? Be a stay-at-home mom and give up some luxuries in life for quality time?
