Running in the rain, conversing with God

This morning I got up at 4:30 am and was out the door 20 minutes later.

It sounds nuts. But when you need to fit in a three hour run during the week, something got to give.

In a certain aspect, with sacrifice of sleep and the comfort of the warm bed, I enjoyed today's run. There is a certain calmness and peaceful of being in the dark. In a slumbering neighborhood, I found the joy of being in His presence.

There was a forecast of thunderstorm today. There was a light fog and the streetlights glow through the mist. Critters are already out and about. Bunnies running around and a few birds chirping in the air. Now I know where the saying 'the early bird gets the worm' from.

Today was a long run to train my body to go long. And this is the best time to talk to God. Early in the day. With no distractions. No cars, no noise, no cell phones, no internet, no appointments. Just me and God.

And it felt great to be able to Praise the Lord before the world starts.
